Are you good at decorating? Can you walk into a room and create a cohesive vision, down to color schemes and coordinating pillows?
I cannot and do not have that ability.
My college dorm room? Bare walls all year, until my friends made me feel bad enough to hang a row of pictures on the wall. My dorm room was not the cozy hang-out place everyone flocked to.
As a grown adult, I still struggle to put energy into something I know I have no talent for. I’ve even considered paying savvy friends to spruce up my place and make it inviting.
So, I challenged myself. This year, I WILL decorate, I WILL hang up pictures, and I will replace the old, outdated bathroom canvases I don’t like. So what did I do? I bought a set of picture frames from Wayfair (SO cute AND color-coordinating!)

I told myself I would definitely have to print pictures and hang them up if I had the frames.
Right? Right. Wrong!
One month later, the frames are still stacked on my bedroom floor, and I have yet to decide what pictures to print. But at least I know where I want to hang the picture frames (hallway), and that is a win to me.
My new goal is to decide on the pictures and print them within the next two weeks. That sounds ridiculous when I speak it aloud, but baby steps here.
I know I will never be great at bringing a room together. Yet with little improvements here and there (every few years), my rooms will eventually develop personality without a big investment from me. And if not, I have a friend for that!
